Worst advice you can give to someone with a newborn? Sleep when the baby sleeps. That is total and utter crap. Because one nap can be three hours and then the next nap is like fifteen seconds, and when that latter naps happens and you've just put your head down to go to sleep, oh Lord, the agony. And the pain. And the ANGER. And of course it's never healthy to be angry at a newborn, bad things can happen, like suddenly you start drinking tequila at 10 AM and are calling your husband at work JUST SO THAT YOU CAN HANG UP ON HIM.
Hmm.
Crap.

okay, seriously?!? Take it from one who was way sleep deprived. SLEEP WHENEVER YOU CAN GET IT!!! Even 15 seconds of sleep will seem blissful. Two kids and a couple of books does not an expert make. Seriously. Sleep. Maybe she's so angry because she didn't sleep when she could. Seriously. Sleep. Arrrrgggghhhh
Okay, okay, I'll sleep. When I can.
Let's talk sleep deprivation: will being the sole caregiver to an infant for 6 months cause me to lose my mind, or is there hope I might survive? (Only partially kidding.)
:) you'll be great. I mean it. Somehow, it becomes routine and you make friends with this strange little person. You'll see. Talk to him like you would anyone - it really helps. If you're tired, say "look dude. I'm tired." Seems crazy, but it will feel better to say it out loud. (especially to the one causing it...)
Love you and it will be okay...
That shouldn't be a problem... I already talk to my furry children like that.
Thanks, lady.
I agree with Leslee -- sleep whenever you can!
Deborah ~ The sleep whenever you can theory seems to prevail. I'm used to sleep deprivation from chronic insomnia, so it will be interesting (ha!) to see how this goes...
